Iraq: Reports on Evacuation of U.S. Embassy in Baghdad Are False

The spokesperson for Iraq’s Joint Operations Command⁢ has ​dismissed reports⁢ of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad being​ evacuated, ⁢according to⁢ an interview with Al Jazeera⁢ reported by webangah News Agency.

Reuters ⁢had earlier cited an Iraqi security source claiming​ the embassy was⁣ preparing for evacuation due⁢ to escalating security threats in ⁤the region.

Both an Iraqi security official⁣ adn a ‍U.S. source had stated that the‌ embassy‌ was making contingency⁢ plans for a forced evacuation ​amid heightened risks.
