Axios: Netanyahu Asks U.S. to Mediate Talks with Galant
According to webangah News Agency, Zionist sources told US outlet Axios that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed Tom Barak, the US special envoy to Syria, of his desire to initiate US-mediated negotiations with Syria’s new leadership under Abu Mohammad al-Jolani [Ahmed al-Shara].
The sources stated netanyahu aims for a security agreement with Damascus as a precursor to broader normalization between the two sides. The report indicates Netanyahu has leveraged regional developments – including former US President Donald Trump’s meeting with Jolani in Saudi Arabia and Washington’s decision to lift sanctions on Syria – toward this goal.
The Israeli official claimed Jolani no longer takes direct orders from Ankara and has expressed willingness to build strong relations with washington and Riyadh. The Zionist regime views this shift as a diplomatic opportunity for normalization with Syria’s new leadership.
Previously, US Congresswoman Marlin Statesman revealed that Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, leader of terrorist groups controlling Syria, expressed readiness for peace talks with Israel regarding the Golan Heights on condition of preserving Syrian unity.
Statesman stated she spoke directly with Jolani, who emphasized his commitment to politically resolving disputes with Israel – including over the occupied Golan Heights. This comes as israel has conducted hundreds of airstrikes across Syria since Bashar al-Assad’s fall and maintains significant occupation in southern regions without facing significant resistance from Jolani’s terrorist faction.
