Iranian Official: Regional Tensions Aim to Influence Negotiations
According to webangah news agency, an unnamed senior Iranian official stated in an interview with Reuters that escalating regional tensions are part of a psychological campaign to pressure Iran during nuclear talks with the U.S.
The official emphasized that Tehran will never relinquish its right to uranium enrichment despite these tensions. Reuters further reported the official’s claim that a pleasant regional government had warned Iran of a potential attack by Israel.
Separately, Al-Monitor journalist laura Rozen posted on X (formerly Twitter), suggesting recent Western media reports about “rising Middle East tensions”-including the evacuation of some U.S. embassy staff in Iraq-constitute psychological operations to propagate narratives of an “Israeli strike on Iran.” She wrote: “This is psychological warfare-an attempt to make iran believe Israel might attack.”
Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi later confirmed via X that the sixth round of Iran-U.S. talks will occur next sunday in Muscat, Oman’s capital.
