China Backs Iran on Nuclear Case Issue
According to webangah News Agency, China’s foreign Ministry stated on Thursday that it supports Iran in reaching a solution to address all parties’ legitimate concerns through dialog and negotiation.
The statement emphasized: “The Iranian nuclear issue must be resolved through political and diplomatic means.”
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors approved an anti-Iran resolution proposed by the U.S. and three European countries, with 19 votes in favor, 3 against, and 11 abstentions. The resolution alleged Iran’s non-compliance with its commitments.
Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s representative to the IAEA, reacted to the resolution by noting it passed with only 19 supporting votes, adding that it lacked broad or convincing support.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry and Atomic Energy Association condemned the move in a joint statement, calling it another politicized misuse of the IAEA board without legal or technical justification.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently complied with its safeguards obligations. No IAEA reports have ever indicated Iranian non-compliance or diversion of nuclear materials.
