EU Warns Iran: Exercise Restraint!
The European Union has called on Iran to show restraint and avoid any actions that could escalate regional tensions, warning of hazardous consequences for stability. According to webangah News Agency, an EU spokesperson stated today that “any additional tensions will have perilous repercussions for regional security.”
The bloc expressed concern over recent developments and urged all parties to respect international law. Though, the EU made no mention of antagonistic measures taken by member states of the IAEA Board of Governors against Iran.
This follows the IAEA Board’s approval-with 19 votes in favor, 3 against, and 11 abstentions-of an anti-iran resolution proposed by the U.S. and three European countries alleging non-compliance with nuclear commitments.
Russia’s IAEA representative Mikhail Ulyanov noted the resolution passed with only 19 supporting votes, emphasizing it lacked broad or convincing support. He stated: “The resolution was adopted by just 19 countries.”
Iran’s Foreign Ministry and Atomic Energy Organization condemned the move as another politicized exploitation of the IAEA board without legal or technical basis. They reiterated Tehran’s full compliance with safeguard obligations, noting no IAEA reports have ever cited Iranian diversion of nuclear materials or violations.
