According to webangah news Agency, citing Reuters, the French Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated on thursday that Paris is closely monitoring and deeply concerned about Iran’s move to increase uranium enrichment capacity.
The spokesperson added: “We are following developments regarding new infrastructure for expanding uranium enrichment wiht grave concern and condemn such actions.”
The French Foreign Ministry made no mention of Western countries’ hostile measures against Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, particularly today’s move at the IAEA Board of Governors. In response to the adoption of an anti-Iran resolution by the Board, Iran’s Atomic Energy Institution spokesperson announced: “We will launch a third enrichment facility.”
The IAEA Board of Governors approved the U.S.-backed anti-Iran resolution-submitted by America and three European countries-with 19 votes in favor, 3 against, and 11 abstentions. the resolution accused Iran of non-compliance with its commitments.
Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s representative to the IAEA, emphasized that only 19 countries supported this resolution. He noted it lacked broad or convincing support.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry and Atomic Energy Organization condemned the resolution in a joint statement, calling it another politicized misuse of the IAEA without legal or technical justification.
The Islamic Republic has consistently adhered to its safeguards obligations. No IAEA report has ever cited Iranian non-compliance or diversion of nuclear materials.
