Humiliating Arrest of US Senator Caught on Video
According to webangah News Agency, Democratic Senator Alex Padilla was forcibly removed, thrown to the ground, and arrested by security personnel on Thursday after attempting to question homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen during a press conference in Los Angeles.
The incident occurred as Nielsen defended the Trump management’s strict immigration policies amid local protests.Padilla identified himself and demanded to ask a question before being restrained. The 52-year-old California senator shouted “Get off me!” as he was escorted out.
In an official statement, Padilla confirmed he was “taken down and handcuffed” by agents. Viral footage shows three officers pinning the senator face-down while applying restraints.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) later accused Padilla of “disruptive political theatrics” in a Twitter statement, claiming: “Mr. Padilla received multiple warnings but refused compliance. Protective personnel reasonably perceived him as a threat.” The agency noted Nielsen later met with the senator.
Bipartisan Outrage Erupts
The arrest triggered condemnation from numerous Democratic senators and at least one Republican colleague. GOP Senator Lisa Murkowski told congressional reporters: “Seeing how this large-framed man was treated was offensive and disgusting.”
Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer denounced the incident on the chamber floor: ”I witnessed stomach-turning violence against a sitting U.S. senator. We urgently need full accountability for what transpired.”
