Germany: Berlin, Paris, and London Ready for Immediate Talks with Tehran
According to webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stated that Germany-alongside France and the UK-is prepared for urgent negotiations with Iran regarding its nuclear program. This follows escalating Middle East tensions after Israel’s attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory strikes on Tel Aviv.
Baerbock, currently visiting the region, claimed she seeks to de-escalate tensions between Tehran and Tel Aviv while asserting that Iran had previously “missed opportunities for constructive dialog.” She added: “I hope [talks] remain possible. Germany,France, and Britain stand ready. We’ve proposed immediate negotiations on the nuclear program and hope this offer is accepted.”
the German diplomat insisted that ”the primary precondition for ending this conflict is Iran demonstrating it poses no threat to the region,Israel,or Europe.” Speaking from Oman today, Baerbock argued the war would only conclude if pressure were applied to both Iran and Israel.
When asked whether he believed “Iran’s government could collapse,” Baerbock responded that he assumed “Israel has no intention of overthrowing Iran’s administration.”
The minister also condemned Gaza’s humanitarian crisis as “unacceptable,” demanding Israel grant aid organizations unfettered access to the enclave.
The developments follow Friday morning’s terrorist attack by Israel (June 14) targeting Tehran and several Iranian cities-killing military commanders, scientists, and civilians. In response during Sunday night (June 16), Iranian forces launched dozens of ballistic missiles toward occupied territories under operation True Promise 3 (Phase 2). The IRGC Aerospace Force executed a combined drone-missile offensive bypassing Israeli air defenses during Eid al-Ghadir celebrations.
