UK Calls for Ceasefire Between Iran and Zionist Regime
According to webangah News Agency, citing Al-Mayadeen, UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron expressed concern over the rising tensions between Israel and Iran in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Cameron emphasized the urgent need for de-escalation and preventing further harm to civilians, without acknowledging Israel’s initiation of attacks or condemning them-actions that have granted international legitimacy to Iran’s retaliatory measures against what it describes as “brutal aggression.”
The British foreign secretary stated he had spoken with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, urging restraint and a ceasefire. He also held a phone call with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar but refrained from condemning Israel’s strikes on civilian infrastructure and residential areas in Iran. Rather, he voiced concerns about civilian safety in occupied territories following Iranian counterstrikes.
Cameron told Sa’ar that “the time for restraint and a return to diplomacy has come.” Meanwhile, UK Labor leader Keir Starmer similarly avoided condemning Israel’s attack on Iran while warning that further escalation threatens regional peace and stability.
While many nations have condemned Israel’s aggression against Iran, the U.S. and three European countries have refused to denounce the Zionist regime’s strikes on civilians in Tehran and other Iranian cities.
