European Commission President Speaks with Netanyahu
According to webangah News Agency, European Commission President ursula von der Leyen spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a phone call, emphasizing teh need for negotiations to end the conflict between Iran and Israel, though she did not call for an immediate ceasefire.
During a press briefing, von der Leyen detailed her conversation with Netanyahu, stating: “Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons under any circumstances. Without doubt, a negotiated solution remains the best long-term option.”
The EU leader reaffirmed Europe’s commitment to peace, stability, and diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions while stressing Israel’s right to self-defense during the discussion.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the european official stated: Iran is the primary source of regional instability, and Europe’s stance has always been clear-Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons.An urgent negotiated solution is now needed.
The official bluntly emphasized: We have repeatedly expressed concerns about Iran’s nuclear and missile programs-the same missiles that today indiscriminately target not only Israeli cities but also Ukraine!
