U.S. Embassy in Occupied Territories Shuts Down Amid Fears of Iranian Attacks
Teh U.S. State Department announced the closure of its embassy in occupied Jerusalem and its consular section in Tel Aviv from today until Friday due to escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, according to webangah News agency.
The embassy stated in a release that all U.S. government personnel and their family members must shelter in place at their residences or nearby locations until further notice.
It added there are currently “no plans for assisting U.S. citizens with departure from the occupied territories,” but will notify the American community if conditions change.
The statement confirmed Ben Gurion International Airport remains closed with no commercial or charter flights operating, while Israeli seaports are also inactive.
Though, land border crossings into jordan remain operational and are expected to stay open through Wednesday, the embassy noted.
