We strongly condemn missile attack on Iran’s state TV
According to webangah News Agency, the World Journalists Council strongly condemned the missile attack by the Zionist regime targeting IRIB in an official statement.
The statement reads as follows:
“The heinous attack by the Israeli occupation regime on iran’s national broadcasting association is not merely an assault on a media institution, but a blatant violation of peopel’s right to access information and press freedom. This attack by the Zionist regime reflects its systematic policies that have increasingly targeted journalists directly, particularly in Palestine and other conflict zones.”
“The Zionist regime has previously martyred numerous journalists through intentional attacks in Gaza…”
By deliberately targeting media centers, the attack has blatantly violated international laws. The strike on a television building in Tehran marks another escalation in the hostile approach toward journalists and media outlets.
It must be emphasized that even during wartime, protecting journalists remains a basic principle of international humanitarian law. Attacks on media personnel constitute war crimes and must not go unpunished. We categorically reject the targeting of journalists and stand in solidarity with our colleagues working in Iran, and also all reporters covering events in Palestine, Gaza, and the West Bank.
The global community must no longer remain silent against these systematic assaults on press freedom. Effective mechanisms to safeguard journalists must be implemented immediately. The International Council of Journalists continues its defence of press professionals facing risks worldwide.
Fatkhars fulfill their duty, unwavering solidarity and steadfast support for press freedom will continue.
The Fatkhars are carrying out their responsibilities, with a commitment to expanding unity and resolute backing for press freedom.
