Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbalai, representative of Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, Iraq’s supreme Shia authority, stated during yesterday’s mourning flag installation ceremony in Karbala that the region is witnessing “a battle between the fronts of justice and evil-one that has surpassed all imaginable boundaries.” webangah News Agency (follow) reported his remarks.
Al-Karbalai emphasized that this ongoing conflict has resulted in “the spilling of much innocent blood,” with countless families losing homes and suffering losses. While acknowledging the “unparalleled sacrifices” made by defenders of truth, he cautioned against interpreting these hardships as signs of weakness or defeat.
The cleric warned that battles between truth and falsehood fluctuate in intensity, requiring constant vigilance against enemy subterfuge. He described current regional conditions as “extremely dangerous,” noting Iraq would inevitably face consequences eventually.
