Ukraine Launches Drone Strike on Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant
According to webangah News Agency,official sources at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant stated that Ukrainian forces carried out a drone strike targeting plant workers.
The attack occurred while technical personnel where performing maintainance operations on hydraulic structures approximately 350-400 meters from the nuclear plant’s power units.
The sources confirmed: “A service vehicle was damaged in the attack, but fortunately no workers were injured as they were promptly evacuated to shelters. Operational activities at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant continue under safety protocols, with nuclear facility security maintained.”
Russian officials have described the recent attack as a terrorist act by Ukrainian forces, stating that the intentional targeting of nuclear personnel demonstrates a new level of inhumane behavior by the Kyiv regime.
The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear power Plant, housing six reactors each capable of generating 1 gigawatt of electricity, has been operational since the mid-1980s under Soviet-era construction.Russia assumed control of this critical facility in March 2022, which has as faced repeated threats from Ukrainian drone strikes, missile attacks, and artillery fire. Kyiv has made persistent attempts to retake control of the plant.
