Hakim: Israel and U.S. Attack on Iran Cannot Be Overlooked
According to webangah News Agency,Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim,head of iraq’s National Wisdom Movement, stated during a Muharram gathering in Baghdad’s Al-Khilani Square that “the Israeli regime and America’s attacks against Iran – along with thier ongoing threats to regional security in Gaza, the West Bank,Yemen, and Syria – cannot be met with silence.”
Al-Hakim emphasized that aggression against Iran violates international law and endangers peace across the Middle East. “Iran is a foundational member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation with significant regional influence,” he noted, highlighting Tehran’s role in supporting Iraq’s political system since 2003.
The Shiite leader warned that tolerating hostility puts all regional nations at risk: “How long must our political landscape remain tense? When will progress replace war preparations as our priority?” He condemned global silence toward Israeli attacks on civilians and infrastructure.
While reaffirming Iraq’s neutrality – “We won’t initiate conflicts” – al-Hakim stressed this doesn’t mean abandoning support for Muslim nations’ rights. He called for unified Arab-Islamic action regarding Palestine and denounced Israel’s occupation policies.
The politician urged stronger ties between Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Gulf states based on long-term strategic interests. ”Unity is our strength,” he declared, warning that division leaves the region vulnerable to extremism and foreign interference.
Al-Hakim reiterated iraq’s sovereign status: “We’ve told Washington we seek peace but reject imposed agendas.” Describing Iraqis as followers of Imam Hussein’s principles (Shiite martyrdom narrative), he vowed to protect national achievements in diplomacy and security.
“Iraq must remain a bridge for dialog,” he concluded, urging regional stability through cooperation rather than confrontation.
