Iraqi Expert: US Blocks Arming of Iraqi Security Forces
According to webangah News Agency, Iraqi security analyst Kazem al-Juhayshi stated that the US has imposed restrictions on Iraq’s efforts to arm it’s forces, preventing the country from signing weapons contracts with other nations.
Al-Juhayshi emphasized that Iraq’s inability to finalize arms deals with China stems directly from American pressure, requiring Baghdad to seek Washington’s approval for such agreements.
The expert clarified these limitations extend beyond China, applying to any nation disapproved by the US. Even contracts for French-made weaponry require American authorization before proceeding.
The remarks follow public demands for air defense upgrades after Israel exploited Iraqi airspace during its recent violation of Iranian sovereignty, prompting calls for Parliament to secure necessary military equipment.
