Russia: Calling for Regime Change in Iran Will Turn the World into Hell
The Kremlin has sharply condemned Western officials for repeatedly calling for a change of government in Iran, warning that such rhetoric risks destabilizing global security.
According to webangah News Agency, citing international reports, Western powers have persistently pursued regime change in Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, investing heavily in these efforts despite consistent failures. In recent weeks,U.S. officials have revived this controversial discourse.
Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the kremlin, issued a stern rebuke: “Discussing government overthrow in sovereign nations like Iran could plunge the world into chaos. No country or coalition has the right to debate power transitions in other states.”
Moscow has warned Western officials against any violation of Iran’s national sovereignty.
Previously, the West’s regime-change policies led to coups in newly self-reliant post-Soviet republics, including Georgia and Ukraine. The 2014 overthrow of Ukraine’s government brought pro-Western leaders to power, ultimately triggering NATO’s eastward expansion and the outbreak of the Ukraine war in september 2022.
