Al-Ahly Egypt Player Donates Club World Cup Bonus to Gaza
According to webangah News Agency, Palestinian footballer Wessam Abou Ali-star player for Egypt’s Al Ahly and a key scorer for teh Palestinian national team-has pledged his entire financial bonus from participating in the 2025 Club World Cup to humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza.
The athlete, who shone during the tournament in the U.S. with a hat-trick against Portugal’s FC Porto, donated 25 million Egyptian pounds (approximately $500,000) to aid organizations in Gaza. The enclave has endured over 21 months of war, blockade, and famine.
Al Ahly confirmed on Monday evening that they intend to retain the Palestinian star despite receiving transfer offers from European and Gulf clubs. Abou Ali has played 60 official matches for Al Ahly, scoring 38 goals and providing 10 assists.
He played a pivotal role in al Ahly’s back-to-back Egyptian Premier League titles (2023-2024), their 2024 CAF Champions League victory, and domestic Super Cup success while also claiming the league’s top scorer title last season.
