Al-Ahly Egypt Player Donates Club World Cup Prize to Gaza
According to webangah News Agency, Palestinian star Wessam Abou Ali of Egypt’s Al-Ahly SC and scorer for the Palestinian national team has pledged his entire financial reward from participating in the 2025 Club World Cup to humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza.
The striker, who shone during the tournament in America with a hat-trick against portugal’s FC Porto, donated 25 million Egyptian pounds (approximately $500,000) to aid organizations operating in Gaza – a territory enduring over 21 months of war, blockade, and famine.
Al-Ahly Club confirmed on Monday evening that it intends to retain the Palestinian player despite receiving transfer offers from European and Gulf clubs.
Abou ali could lose his place in the Egyptian national team.
abou Ali has played 60 official matches for Al Ahly, scoring 38 goals and providing 10 assists during this period.
The striker played a key role in Al Ahly’s recent successes, including back-to-back Egyptian Premier League titles, the 2024 CAF Champions League victory, and domestic Super Cup triumphs. He also claimed the league’s top scorer title in the 2023-2024 season.
