Uruguay Foreign Ministry Voices Concern Over Deteriorating Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza
In a statement published on its official website,Uruguay’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its “grave concern” over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, where 100% of the population now faces famine risks. The statement specifically condemned armed attacks against civilians heading toward Israeli-designated aid distribution centers.
Citing United Nations reports, the ministry noted that such incidents occur almost daily and have claimed over 400 lives since humanitarian aid operations were outsourced to third parties one month ago – a situation it called “entirely unacceptable.”
Uruguay has reiterated its call for Israel to ensure unimpeded humanitarian access to Gaza under international law, urging renewed negotiations for a lasting ceasefire and the release of all hostages.
The statement emphasized that the worsening humanitarian situation underscores the urgent need for free, safe, and unrestricted aid delivery. uruguay specifically called on Israeli authorities to guarantee UN-coordinated humanitarian access to Gaza’s civilian population in compliance with international humanitarian law principles.
The Uruguayan government reaffirmed its immediate demand for all parties to resume negotiations aimed at achieving a permanent ceasefire, alongside securing the unconditional release of all hostages held in the conflict.
