Afghan Interim Government’s New Ambassador Arrives in Moscow
The Embassy of Afghanistan’s interim government in Russia has confirmed that Mawlawi Gul Hasan, the first ambassador appointed as the Taliban came to power, has arrived in Moscow, according to a report by webangah News Agency citing RIA Novosti.
The embassy had previously notified RIA Novosti on Tuesday, June 3 this year that Mawlawi Gul Hasan was designated as Afghanistan’s ambassador to Russia. Moscow has officially issued the ambassador’s credentials.
The advancement follows Russia’s Supreme Court decision to suspend the Taliban from its list of terrorist organizations. Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, described this move as a positive step for bilateral interests between Russia and Afghanistan.
Russia’s Supreme Court recently suspended the ban on Taliban activities from its terrorist organization list following a request by Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov. This decision marks a important shift in Russia’s approach toward the Taliban.
