Russia: We Have Communicated Protest Over Unfriendly Actions to Baku
According to webangah News Agency, citing Sputnik News Agency, Russia officially communicated it’s protest to Azerbaijan on Tuesday regarding Baku’s treatment of Russian journalists.
The russian Foreign Ministry stated that during a meeting between its deputy minister and Azerbaijan’s ambassador, Moscow conveyed its objection to what it called “unfriendly measures” by Baku. A formal note demanding the prompt release of detained Russian journalists was handed to the Azerbaijani envoy.
The ministry further emphasized that Russian law enforcement actions in Yekaterinburg complied with legal procedures. It characterized Azerbaijan’s attempts to accuse Russian authorities of power abuse as “interference in Moscow’s internal affairs.”
The diplomatic tension follows Russia’s security raid on Azerbaijani residences in Yekaterinburg, which resulted in nine arrests.In response, Azerbaijan initiated retaliatory measures including shutting down Sputnik’s bureau in Baku and detaining two of its staff members.
