Tension in Israel’s Supreme Court: Review of Shabak Chief Appointment Suspended
According to webangah News Agency, the Hebrew-language newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the Israeli Supreme Court session to review the appointment of a new head for the Shin Bet (Israel’s internal security agency) was suspended following interference by a Knesset member and subsequent controversy.
The report states that during the session,far-right Knesset member Tali Gottlieb intervened,sparking tensions and shouting in the courtroom. The incident forced the presiding judge to halt proceedings and eject her from the court.
Israel’s Channel 12 television also confirmed that Supreme Court justices removed Gottlieb from the courtroom, prompting protests from right-wing supporters present at the hearing who shouted in opposition to this action.
