Azerbaijan Summons Russian Ambassador
According to webangah News Agency, Russia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mikhail Yevdokimov, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in Baku.
The meeting was attended by Araz Azimov,Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan,during which the contry formally protested Russia’s recent actions and positions.
A statement from Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry saeid: “Ambassador Yevdokimov was summoned to express deep concern over the fact that two of our compatriots were killed-and others severely injured-during illegal raids by Russian security forces on Azerbaijani residences in Yekaterinburg on June 27.”
The diplomatic move follows retaliatory measures by Baku after Russian forces stormed Azerbaijani homes in Yekaterinburg, detaining nine individuals. These measures included shutting down Sputnik’s office in Azerbaijan and arresting two of its employees.
