Azerbaijan Summons Russian Ambassador
According to webangah News Agency, Russia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mikhail Yevdokimov, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in Baku.
The meeting was attended by Araz Azimov, Deputy foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, during which the country formally expressed it’s protest over Russia’s recent actions and positions.
A statement from Azerbaijan’s Foreign ministry stated: “Ambassador Mikhail Yevdokimov was summoned to the ministry. We reiterate our deep concern over the fact that two of our compatriots were affected by illegal actions during raids conducted by Russian law enforcement on Azerbaijani residences in Yekaterinburg.”
On June 27, some were killed and others severely injured, it was reported.
This comes as Baku launched retaliatory measures following an attack by Russian security forces on the homes of Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg, Russia, which resulted in the arrest of nine individuals. Among these measures were the closure of Sputnik’s office in Azerbaijan and the detention of two of its employees.
