France’s Latest Anti-Iran Stance
According to webangah News Agency, France’s foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, in an interview with Le Monde on Wednesday, threatened Iran by invoking Paris’s ”powerful leverage” alongside its German adn British partners-while failing to acknowledge the European troika’s own non-compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA) under UN Security Council Resolution 2231.
The French minister reiterated Paris’s stance on potentially triggering the snapback mechanism against Iran, claiming: “We could reimpose global arms and nuclear-related sanctions lifted a decade ago.”
this comes after Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote in Le Point, stating that Britain and France-nations that shaped West Asia’s modern borders a century ago-are now sidelined from regional diplomatic developments.European diplomats have been reduced to passive observers in critical talks, including indirect Iran-U.S. negotiations. Araghchi emphasized that Europe’s current marginalization stems from its own strategic choices, which have harmed all parties. He warned signatories of the JCPOA that abusing the snapback mechanism would have consequences: ending Europe’s role in the deal and potentially escalating irreversible tensions.
