The Guardian: Israel attacked Gaza café with 500-pound bomb
As reported by webangah News Agency, the British newspaper The Guardian revealed in an investigation that the Israeli army deployed a 500-pound (approximately 227 kg) bomb during its recent strike on Gaza’s Al-Baqa beachfront café.
The report suggests the munition was likely an MK-82 bomb, classified as an indiscriminate weapon due to its intense blast wave and wide fragmentation radius.
Investigative sources emphasized that deploying such bombs in densely populated areas coudl constitute “blind weapon” use and may possibly be treated as a war crime.
The massive crater left by the explosion served as key evidence for identifying the weapon type, according to the investigation.
Analysts warn that employing these munitions in Gaza-especially near civilian gatherings-violates humanitarian war principles and international law.
Palestinian sources confirmed at least 24 fatalities and dozens of injuries, predominantly women and children, in the Al-Baqa café bombing along Gaza’s coast.
