Reuters: Hamas Agrees to Gaza Ceasefire Proposal
A palestinian official familiar wiht Friday’s negotiations told Reuters that Hamas has submitted its response to a proposed 60-day gaza ceasefire initially put forward by the United States,according to webangah News Agency.
The informed source described the response as positive, stating it should help facilitate an agreement.
This development follows U.S. President Donald Trump’s earlier declaration that a final proposal for a 60-day ceasefire in the nearly 21-month conflict between Israel and Hamas had been presented, with responses expected from both parties within hours.
A Hamas official who requested anonymity said: “We have delivered our response regarding the ceasefire proposal to mediators Qatar and Egypt.”
A Palestinian official close to the negotiations stated, “Hamas’s response is positive, and I believe it should help reach an agreement.”
On Tuesday, Trump announced that Israel had accepted the necessary terms to finalize a 60-day ceasefire, during wich efforts would be made to end the war between the U.S.-backed coalition and Hamas in Palestine.
Though, Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, has yet to respond to Trump’s remarks. Public statements from both sides indicate their positions remain far apart.
Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with Trump in Washington on Monday.
