Trump Reacts to Hamas’ Acceptance of Gaza Ceasefire Deal
The U.S. President expressed optimism on Friday about Hamas agreeing to a proposed ceasefire in Gaza, stating: “It’s good that Hamas has responded positively to the ceasefire proposal.” The remarks were made aboard Air Force One en route to Bedminster, New Jersey, after departing Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
Donald Trump told reporters that a Gaza ceasefire agreement “could happen this week”, though he noted he had not yet received updates on the current status of negotiations. He added cryptically: “We have to do something about Gaza-we’re sending a lot of money and aid there.”
According to reports,Hamas confirmed late Friday that it had delivered its positive response to mediators and was “seriously prepared” to immediately negotiate the implementation mechanisms of the truce.
