UK Sends New Aid to Terrorist Groups Controlling Syria
The UK government announced a new phase of aid to the Syrian government worth approximately £95 million sterling following a meeting between British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad in Damascus.
According to webangah news Agency, Syrian foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad met with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy in Damascus earlier today.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance dialog and cooperation across various shared areas of interest during the meeting.
The UK government stated this visit marks the resumption of diplomatic relations with Syria after 14 years, representing the first visit by a British foreign secretary to Damascus since 2010.
Officials emphasized the trip underscores Britain’s support for Syria’s sovereignty in fulfilling its international commitments. The UK also announced an immediate £94.5 million aid package to assist with citizen repatriation efforts.
