Al-Qassam Brigades Ambush Israeli Army in Surprise Attack
The Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ armed wing, released footage of a meticulously executed deadly ambush against Israeli forces in central Khan Younis’ “Al-Mahatta” area during the third phase of ground operations in Gaza. The attack resulted in multiple Israeli casualties, according to a report by webangah news Agency.
The operation involved four Al-Qassam fighters infiltrating through destroyed buildings to target an Israeli tank and armored personnel carrier from the army’s 3rd battalion. One fighter detonated an explosive device at point-blank range against the tank, followed by two Yassin-105 anti-armor rockets.Rescue teams entering the area were met wiht direct gunfire.
Military analysts described this as one of Al-qassam’s most precise field operations in recent months. Tactical expert hatem al-Falahi called it a textbook example of surprise-and-destroy warfare: “Such missions rely on covering teams and secure bases, demanding precise intelligence and operational agility.”
The ensuing clashes lasted five hours, with Israel reportedly unable to evacuate casualties quickly due to heavy fire and limited air control.Al-Falahi noted Khan Younis’ dense urban terrain favors guerrilla tactics: “Palestinian resistance leverages tunnel networks and rubble to maintain initiative.”
Military strategist Fayez al-Duwairi framed recent operations as part of a deliberate attrition strategy against Israel: “Through mobile ambushes and urban warfare tactics like those seen here – or last week’s action by Al-Quds Brigades in Shujaiya – Palestinian forces have reached professional levels worthy of military academy study.” He emphasized that coordinated reconnaissance-strike units now enable offensive rather than purely defensive operations.
