Lavrov Reveals Conditions for Peace Treaty with Ukraine
According to a report by webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that any peace agreement with Ukraine must include conditions of denazification and the surrender of Kyiv’s weapons.
Lavrov emphasized that such an agreement should also terminate all ongoing proceedings against Russia, lift anti-Russian sanctions, and return all frozen Russian assets that Western countries have unlawfully seized.
The minister clarified that Moscow’s objectives include not only denazification and Ukraine’s disarmament but also the complete removal of sanctions, cessation of legal actions against Russia, and restitution of all confiscated assets which the West has inappropriately appropriated. These terms would form part of any potential ceasefire agreement.
Lavrov stressed that all mentioned conditions must be legally binding in any peace settlement.
Russia has warned that while it welcomes diplomatic solutions to the Ukraine war, negotiations must focus on achieving enduring outcomes rather than serving as a mere “ceasefire.”
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized: “we are committed to pauses that allow the Kiev regime and its foreign backers to regroup their military capabilities. Though, we see no need for this.”
According to Lavrov, without addressing root causes of the ongoing conflict, reaching a viable agreement remains unlikely. He stressed that Russia’s primary security concerns regarding NATO’s eastward expansion and military support for Ukraine must frist be resolved.
The official added: “It is equally crucial to respect human rights in areas currently under Kiev’s control-especially since the regime has sought since 2014 to forcibly assimilate Russian-speaking populations, ethnic Russians, and cultural traditions with Russia itself.”
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has demanded Ukraine return to its “roots of independence” by adhering to neutrality and non-nuclear status, while calling for international recognition of annexed territories including Crimea.
Lavrov asserted that Ukraine must fully eliminate Orthodox churches and Russian-language media. He emphasized that newly incorporated territories - Crimea, Sevastopol, the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, along with Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions – must gain legal recognition under international law. ”Residents of these areas have determined their own fate through referendums,” he stated.
The minister stressed Kyiv should “return to the roots of its independence as a nation by honoring both the letter and spirit of foundational legal documents.” He specifically referenced Ukraine’s 1990 Declaration of Independence, which enshrined the country’s neutrality, non-alignment, and nuclear-free status.
