NYT Exposes Zionist Lies: Evin Prison Attack Was Not Symbolic
According to a report by webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency, The New York Times revealed the Israeli regime’s lie about its attack on Evin Prison being “symbolic,” calling it one of the deadliest strikes during Israel’s 12-day war against Iran. Iran reported 79 killed and dozens wounded in the attack, with casualties expected to rise.
The American newspaper detailed that around noon on a hot summer day, 35-year-old Leila Jafarzadeh-mother of a one-year-old girl-arrived at Evin prison after authorities approved her husband Milad Khedmati’s temporary release for financial charges. As she approached the visitation centre while speaking to him by phone, explosions rocked the prison. She screamed, “They’re bombing! Bomb! Bomb! Bomb!” before the call cut off. Her brother-in-law Hossein Khedmati later confirmed shrapnel pierced her skull, killing her. He found her body in a morgue bag and said: “I can’t grasp that Leila is gone… Telling my brother his wife was dead was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”
The report added that emergency workers carried victims on stretchers to ambulances while Israel’s military refused to comment on targeting or casualties. Israeli officials had labeled the strike ”symbolic.” Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar claimed on social media it was “a liberating act.” Media and human rights groups confirmed fatalities included prisoners’ family members, social workers, lawyers, medical staff (doctors/nurses), a 5-year-old child, teenage conscripts guarding gates, administrative staffers and local residents.
Survivors described sudden chaos: buildings shook; walls collapsed; windows shattered; door hinges tore loose; smoke/dust choked air as bloodied victims lay screaming for help if conscious. Male inmates who ran into courtyards found clinics ablaze while storage units holding food/hygiene supplies were obliterated.
