Former Russian Transport Minister Dies by Suicide
According to a report by webangah News Agency, citing Reuters, Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry confirmed in a statement on Monday that the country’s former transport minister had died by suicide.
The statement identified the deceased as Roman Starovoyt, who took his own life in odintsovo, Moscow Region, shortly after being dismissed earlier that day.
The advancement followed russian President Vladimir Putin’s decree removing Starovoyt from his position as transport minister. The presidential order, published on the kremlin website, stated it took affect instantly upon signing.
No explanation was provided for Starovoyt’s dismissal in either the emergency services’ statement or the presidential decree.
Starovoyt had been appointed transport minister in May 2024 after serving as governor of Kursk Region as September 2019.
