Lavrov: Ready to Receive Uranium from Iran and Convert It into Reactor Fuel

Russia’s foreign‍ Minister ​has announced his country’s readiness to receive ⁢highly enriched uranium from Iran and convert it ⁣into reactor-grade fuel.

According to webangah News Agency,⁣ citing Sputnik,⁤ Russian⁢ Foreign Minister ⁤ Sergey Lavrov highlighted Moscow’s technical capabilities in ​reducing ⁢uranium enrichment levels. He ⁤stated: ⁤ “Russia is prepared to receive Iran’s excess highly enriched‍ uranium, process⁤ it‌ domestically, and return uranium at a‍ suitable enrichment level for civilian nuclear power use.”

Lavrov noted that such a mechanism had previously been agreed upon under ⁣the Joint ⁢Thorough Plan of Action (JCPOA) and formed the basis⁢ for technical ‍cooperation​ between Iran and the deal’s signatories.
