Trump: Ukraine Must Defend Itself; We’ll Send More Weapons!
According to a report by webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, US President Donald Trump stated that teh country intends to continue supplying weapons to Ukraine after a several-day pause, emphasizing Washington’s willingness to provide Kyiv with complete military support.
In response to press inquiries, Trump said: “We intend to send more weapons.They need to be able to defend themselves.”
The White House added: “They are currently under intense bombardment. We have decided to send additional weapons-primarily defensive systems.”
Earlier, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov commented on Trump’s statements following his phone call with Russian president Vladimir Putin, noting that Moscow is “closely monitoring all public remarks by the US president.”
The US has delayed the delivery of Patriot missile systems, some critical air defense components, Hellfire missiles, Stinger missiles, and several other weapons to Ukraine. This comes a day after president Trump stated that Washington would continue sending arms to Ukraine but must prioritize safeguarding it’s own stockpiles.
The decision affects key military aid packages, including advanced air defense systems vital for Ukraine’s ongoing conflict. While the management reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Kyiv, officials emphasized the need to balance assistance with maintaining sufficient domestic reserves.
