Pentagon Confirms Sending More ‘Defensive’ Weapons to Ukraine
The U.S. department of Defense, affirming President Donald TrumpS remarks about increased arms deliveries to Ukraine, stated that the majority of these weapons would be defensive, according to a report by webangah News Agency.
Sean Parnell, a Pentagon spokesperson, responded to questions about the U.S.government’s decision: “Under President Trump’s directive, the Department of Defense is sending more defensive weapons to ukraine and ensuring Ukrainians can defend themselves-while we continue efforts to secure lasting peace and end bloodshed.”
He added: “Our framework for evaluating military shipments worldwide remains intact and is integral to the ‘America First’ defense priorities.”
Earlier, Trump stated that the U.S. intends to send “somewhat more weapons” to Kyiv-most of which would be defensive in nature.
The New york Times reported on July 2 that Washington had suspended deliveries of Patriot air defense missiles, certain precision-guided munitions, hellfire missiles, Stinger missile systems, and other arms shipments to Ukraine. However, Trump later clarified that while Washington would continue supplying weapons to Kyiv, it must also maintain its own ammunition stockpile.
