Pentagon Confirms Sending More ‘Defensive’ Weapons to Ukraine

The U.S. Department ‍of Defense confirmed ⁤that the government plans to send⁣ additional “defensive weapons” to ukraine.

The U.S. department of ⁢Defense, affirming President Donald TrumpS remarks about increased arms deliveries to Ukraine, stated that the majority of these weapons would be ⁢defensive, according to a report by webangah News Agency.

Sean Parnell, a ⁤Pentagon spokesperson, responded to questions about the U.S.government’s ⁢decision: “Under President Trump’s directive, the Department⁤ of Defense is sending ​more defensive weapons ‌to ukraine⁣ and ensuring Ukrainians can defend themselves-while we continue‌ efforts to ⁤secure lasting peace ‍and end bloodshed.”

He⁣ added: “Our​ framework for⁢ evaluating military shipments worldwide remains intact and is integral to the ‘America⁣ First’ ⁣defense priorities.”

Earlier,⁤ Trump stated that the U.S. intends to send “somewhat more weapons” to Kyiv-most of which would be defensive in⁤ nature.

The New york ‌Times reported on July 2 ⁣ that ‌Washington had suspended deliveries of Patriot ⁣air defense missiles, certain‌ precision-guided munitions,⁣ hellfire missiles, ​Stinger missile systems, ⁤and​ other arms shipments to Ukraine. However, Trump later clarified that while Washington would continue supplying weapons to Kyiv, it must also maintain its own ⁣ammunition stockpile.

The Kremlin’s ‍response: Dmitry peskov yesterday addressed⁤ Trump’s expressed frustration after his ⁣call with Russian President ‌Vladimir Putin ⁤stating Moscow was closely monitoring all​ statements by the U.S. president.
