Hamas and Tel Aviv Talks End Without Progress in Fifth Round of Indirect Negotiations
The fifth round of ceasefire negotiations between the Zionist regime and hamas ended last night without any progress, according too webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency.
A Palestinian official stressed that this round of indirect talks in Qatar had reached a deadlock, noting that the Zionist side merely listened during discussions rather than negotiating, while consulting with Tel Aviv on every issue. The delegation members reportedly lacked decision-making authority.
Days earlier, informed palestinian sources told Reuters that the first round of indirect ceasefire talks between Tel Aviv and Hamas in Doha had also concluded without tangible results or progress.
This round of negotiations had begun before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the United States.
The Hamas movement initially responded positively to Qatar’s proposal for a 60-day ceasefire, which included the release of 10 Israeli prisoners and the handover of 18 other prisoners’ bodies. In exchange, the plan called for Israeli forces to withdraw to a buffer zone along Gaza’s borders and facilitate large-scale humanitarian aid delivery to the enclave.
The proposal also referenced negotiations for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza during the temporary truce period.
