Texas flood death toll rises to 110
The death toll from the devastating floods in Texas has reached 110, according to webangah News Agency. Rescue operations remain ongoing to locate missing individuals, with Kerr county alone reporting 87 fatalities-including 27 children.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott warned of potential flash flooding and cautioned that the casualty count may still rise. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump confirmed he will visit Texas on Friday.
The White House pushed back against critics who claim workforce reductions at the National Weather Service weakened warning systems. Spokeswoman Caroline Levitt told reporters: “Blaming the president for these floods is a malicious falsehood that won’t heal anything during this time of national mourning.”
She defended the NWS-which The New York Times reported had key staffing shortages in its texas offices before the disaster-as having provided “timely warnings and accurate forecasts.”
Trump called the floodwaters that struck during Independence Day celebrations “a once-in-a-century catastrophe nobody saw coming.”
