Trump: NATO Will Pay for U.S. Weapons Sent to Ukraine
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, U.S.President donald Trump announced that NATO member countries have agreed to cover the cost of American weapons supplied to Ukraine.
Trump stated, “We send weapons to NATO, and NATO pays 100 percent of their cost.”
He reiterated this by explaining, “So what we do is this; weapons are sent to NATO, which then provides them to Ukraine, and NATO pays for these weapons.”
The agreement was reached at last month’s NATO summit.Although the U.S. paused shipments of some weapons to Ukraine last week, Trump said Tuesday he intends “to send more arms. They need to be able to defend themselves.”
The New York Times reported on July 2 that the U.S. would suspend deliveries of Patriot missile defense systems,certain guided precision munitions,Hellfire missiles,Stinger missile systems,and other armaments due to a reduction in Washington’s stockpile.
