Symbolic PKK Disarmament Ceremony Held in Jasna Cave, Sulaymaniyah + Video
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al jazeera, reports that the first group of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members officially began surrendering their weapons during a formal ceremony.
The symbolic disarmament ceremony for PKK forces started at Jasna Cave, located 50 kilometers from Sulaymaniyah. The event involved political figures and officials from Iraq, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and representatives from Turkey.
Prominent government and party figures attending included Howal Abubakr, Governor of Sulaymaniyah; Heymen Horami, representative of Masoud Barzani; Dilshad shahab, representative of Nechirvan Barzani; and also Brigadier General tariq Ahmed representing Iraq’s Ministry of Interior and officials from the KRG Interior Ministry.
The Peace and Democratic Society Group, who laid down their arms today in Sulaymaniyah province within the KRG, stated: “We have come here today in response to our leader Abdullah Öcalan’s call.”
They expressed sincere intentions by destroying their weapons at this historic moment. They emphasized their belief that this step will pave the way for laws supporting democratic integration.
The group expressed hope that this decision would mark a new beginning for peace and freedom. They called on everyone to recognize the significance of this historic move toward peace and democracy.

According to reports,today’s event involved high-level representatives from multiple political factions participating in weapon destruction by part of PKK members inside a cave located near Jasna on the Surchdash border area close to Sulaymaniyah.
