North Korean Leader Gives Warm Welcome to Russian Foreign Minister + Video
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and RIA Novosti, Russia’s Foreign ministry announced that Sergey Lavrov met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during his visit to North korea.
The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the meeting took place in the port city of Wonsan. Lavrov arrived in Pyongyang last night for a three-day visit.He initially praised North Korean soldiers deployed to the Kursk region for their role in liberating this area from Ukrainian control.
Lavrov’s trip follows a June visit by Sergey Shoigu, Russia’s top security official, who also met with Kim Jong Un. Shoigu announced that North Korea would send thousands of construction workers and demining specialists to help rebuild Russia’s Kursk region.
North Korea has supported Russia’s war against Ukraine by deploying thousands of troops to the frontlines between Moscow and Kyiv. The Central News Agency of Korea previously quoted Kim Jong Un, stating that he viewed “the participation of Pyongyang’s armed forces in this war as a sacred mission aimed at protecting North Korea’s honor.”
Following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to North Korea last July and subsequent bilateral talks, both nations signed a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership agreement.”
