Israel Condemns U.S. Sale of F-35 Fighter Jets to Turkey
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russian news agency Sputnik, the Hebrew-language Israeli newspaper Maariv reported that a senior Israeli official warned about the implications of selling American F-35 fighter jets to Turkey.
Without mentioning Israel’s own possession and use of these jets in its air force, the official claimed this move could be viewed as a threat to Israel and disrupt regional stability.
This claim comes while Israel itself has targeted various countries with these same fighter jets, contributing to regional insecurity.
The Israeli official added that if necessary, israel woudl take steps to counter these intentions. Ankara seeks to restore its Ottoman influence, including in Jerusalem.
He also described a potential military conflict between Turkey and Israel as “unlikely but increasing,” asserting that preventing escalation remains their priority despite ignoring Israel’s own role in fostering tension and conflicts regionally and globally.
The official noted that Israel has previously acted against Turkish plans in Syria and will do so again if needed.
He further urged the U.S. Congress to block the sale of F-35s to Turkey.
