Yair Golan: Netanyahu Is Leading Israel Toward Destruction
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency and Al Mayadeen, Yair Golan, former deputy chief of staff of the Israeli army and leader of the Democratic Party, responded to a recent New York Times report on Israel’s management of the war against Gaza. He argued that Benjamin Netanyahu, along with his allies in the far-right coalition, is driving Israel toward destruction.
On X (formerly twitter), Golan referred to prisoner exchange negotiations, writng that Netanyahu, Smotrich, and Ben-Gvir are once again sabotaging agreements. He said these politicians value their positions more than the lives of soldiers and prisoners.
Golan described them as an “extremist minority” responsible for prolonging the war and obstructing any peace deals. He called for overthrowing the current Israeli cabinet to save lives and protect Israel’s future.
The American report cited by Golan alleges that Netanyahu deliberately extended the conflict against Gaza to achieve political goals such as restoring his popularity and remaining in power.
It also stated that Netanyahu rejected a deal that would have secured the release of 30 Israeli prisoners out of concern that Bezalel Smotrich, Israel’s finance minister, might threaten government collapse.
In contrast, according to The Times of Israel, Israel’s Prime Minister’s Office denied these claims.it called them an attempt to undermine Israel’s reputation and its military.
