Beijing: China’s Military Response to Japanese Aircraft Was Fully Rational and Professional
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Chinese Ministry of Defense website, China’s defense ministry spokesperson said Sunday that Beijing’s military reaction to repeated reconnaissance flights by Japanese aircraft entering its East China Sea air Defense Identification Zone was wholly justified and conducted professionally.
Jiang Bin, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Defense, issued a statement noting that recently, Japan Air Self-Defense Force reconnaissance planes have repeatedly intruded near Beijing’s air defense identification zone in the East China Sea for close-range surveillance.
He emphasized that Beijing’s actions were ”entirely legitimate, reasonable, professional, and standard.” Chinese aircraft responded according to law by confirming, identifying, tracking, and monitoring the Japanese planes.
The spokesperson added that close monitoring and intervention against Japanese aircraft pose the main safety risks for both airspace and maritime navigation between China and Japan.
