EU Delays Tariff Retaliation Against the United States

European Commission President announces the EU will delay retaliatory tariffs on‍ U.S. imports ​until early next month.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula ​von⁢ der Leyen, announced today, Sunday, that Brussels ‍will postpone⁤ imposing retaliatory​ tariffs on⁣ imports from⁢ the United States⁤ until ⁢early August.

Von der Leyen stated that⁣ the European commission does not want⁢ to implement its planned retaliatory measures against the U.S. trade dispute⁤ starting Monday as initially scheduled.

She ‌added⁣ that ‌the EU intends to wait ​and see if a deal remains possible despite​ President Donald Trump’s recent decision to raise tariffs on imports from‌ the European Union.

This comes after Trump threatened Saturday to increase tariffs on EU imports by 30 percent.
