European Union Moves to Impose Tariffs on American Goods
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Mayadeen, Italy’s Foreign Minister Antonio tajani revealed that the EU is preparing a tariff list targeting $21 billion worth of American goods should talks fail.
Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, also responded to former President Donald Trump’s tariff threats by warning: “We will take all necessary measures to protect the interests of the European Union, including proportionate countermeasures if required.”
Previously, Trump had announced plans to impose additional tariffs up to 30 percent on EU products starting next month.
He further warned that if the european Union retaliates with its own tariffs against the U.S., America would increase those tariffs even further.
