Moscow: Kyiv Not Rushing Negotiations; Arms Shipments to Ukraine Continue
Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, referred to two rounds of direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine held in Istanbul and noted that Kyiv appears reluctant to set a date for a third round.
Peskov said, “It is indeed clear that Kyiv is in no hurry. We are still waiting for proposals regarding the timing of the talks. Russia is prepared to continue and hold the third round of negotiations.”
Regarding former U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to provide Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, Peskov added: “it now seems that Europe will pay for this equipment; however, some costs will be covered while others will not.”
He continued, “The reality remains that arms, ammunition, and military equipment supplies from the United States to Ukraine have been ongoing and will continue.”
Axios quoted two informed sources reporting that Trump is expected to announce Washington’s plan to supply “offensive” weapons to Ukraine-an approach sharply contrary to his initial stance.
