Minas Gerais State ⁣Park in Brazil Recognized as Its First Natural World heritage Site

according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and TV BRICS, the Peruaçu National Park in BrazilS Minas Gerais state was ‍officially added to the UNESCO World Natural Heritage list during the 47th‌ session of its World Heritage Committee held in Paris.

The park features more than⁢ 200 documented caves,⁢ prehistoric rock paintings, and archaeological remains dating back 12,000‍ years. It ⁤also boasts rich biodiversity resulting from the overlap of three distinct biomes: atlantic Forest, Cerrado, and Caatinga. These elements make it a globally valuable natural and cultural treasure.

Mauro Peres, president of the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), thanked those involved in this achievement. He emphasized that this global recognition not only highlights the area’s ⁣natural beauty and archaeological heritage but also honors the crucial role played by local communities and park management throughout the registration process.

Brazilian environmental officials note that Peruaçu Park is Minas Gerais’ first registered natural site on UNESCO’s list. This milestone ⁣strengthens Brazil’s presence on the world Heritage register and supports lasting regional advancement.
