Degel HaTorah Party Exits Netanyahu Cabinet
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency via Al-Nashra, Israeli media reported that Degel HaTorah-a party representing Ashkenazi Haredim with four members in the Knesset-has declared its exit from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet.
Yisrael Hayom reported that following a crisis over the failure to pass a law exempting Haredim from military service, Degel HaTorah left the government coalition.
The outlet added that with Degel HaTorah’s exit, the ruling bloc’s majority shrinks to 63 seats in the 120-member Knesset.
It also noted that if Agudat Yisrael decides to leave the cabinet as well, the coalition would hold only 60 seats. This would mean Netanyahu no longer has a guaranteed majority in parliament.
